P.P. Sedt. & ? -- Compeared Barbara Montgo
-mery in Gillonbierigg, and confessed herself to
be with child, and accused Mr Edward Arm
-strong of Kirtletown of being guilty with her
and the Father of her Child.
A Letter was also produced from Mr Armstrong
acknowledging himself guilty with her and the
Father of her Child.
13 January 1799
Compeared Nelly Hay in Hook, and
voluntarily confessed, that she had brought
forth a Child some time ago, and accused
Edward Armstrong of Hook Esqr. as guilty
with her and the Father of her Child.
A letter was given in to the Session
from Mr Armstrong acknowledging his
guilt with Nelly Hay, and the Father of
her Child
She craved she might be admitted to give
satisfaction according to the Rules of the Church.
Shae accordingly was admitted, and appeared this
day before the Congregation, and was publickly
rebuked fine 1mo. [1 mark]
3 March 1799
Nelly Hay was publickly rebuked fine 3mo.
and absolved from the scandal and her Child
appointed to be baptized.
